Survivor Tactics? - Guild Wars Forums

I've been working with a ranger over the past 2 days towards Legendary Survivor. Kilroy's taken me up to ~420k EXP by now, but I would like to take a break from the Kilroy and maybe try some other things for a bit. Get out more. You know.

So I went to the Amnoon Oasis. Wow! Talk about dead these days, eh? I was literally the only person there. Anyway, I was thinking "I should get my 50,000 Ascension bonus!" Prophecies character, by the by. A few concerns struck me, though.

First, I'm afraid of getting around the desert. Lag could strike at any moment, along with a devourer mob or two, and there all my work goes. Frightening if you ask me.

Second, I'm afraid of doing the three missions!

I almost thought about looking to even pay someone to tour me around, but I wouldn't know if you could pay people to do those missions, or if my safety would be easily managed...

So I still want to do something different, but I'm at a bit of a loss for ideas. Discuss?

Have to admit, never ever did boxing re lagg/exploit ect ect..did it the old fashioned way

You did not say if you have all campaingns also

Paying for runs (afraid ?) thats what the game is about, The experiance to say

to yourself I took no shortcuts thats different for you.

Skill capping is a way also.as your a Ranger who has plenty of skills to avoid /defence it should not be hard.

If you are going to keep paying for runs/missions then can you say to yourself ...A title i earned by myself

You as a ranger can easily get the xp from Doppelganger ,and still do a lot of missions..as you have heros

You could possibly use a Bonder on you with 1 or 2 regular monks and the rest with high damage. There isnt very much enchantment stripping in prophecies, well at least much less then everywhere else.

I would watch out for traps however if venturing into the desert.

When it comes to the Doppleganger, use skills from eotn, he wont know what to do. Either use Ursan Blessing or Summon Ruby Djinn or a combination. He will hit the floor in no time.

I figured I would just use Brawling skills on the doppleganger.

And no, I haven't paid for anything. I thought about it. And I don't really have any friends in-game. I play with a couple friends who I can maybe get to play once every 2 months. I'm generally on my own. So I'm just looking to be in situations where a random internet disconnection (because we've all had =007) isn't going to kill what I've been doing. I wasn't exactly looking to be downed for posing a topic...

But, yea, for the doppleganger, I figured I would just go in with some Deldrimor skills and my Stalker and start taking him down.

EDIT: And I do have all of the campaigns. I've been thinking of maybe just scrapping my work so far and making a Dervish. I have a fondness of Dervishes, though I haven't experimented with too many types of builds.

i did exactly what u did

I did kilroy til about 500k then took a break and ran after te doople dude and i never died

i then whent right back to boxing after i had killed him

i lagged out at 800k and died

just be careful and do not pug

ey all

i have done almost the same as you did for Legendary Survivor

i have done Kilroy's dungeons until about 550K XP then i haved finish GW:en with a other proffesion so i could go HM in GW:en. after this just make a build with skills like [[Poison Tip Signet] & [[Hunter shot] & [[Dual Shot] with a prep like [[Kindle Arrows] or [[Read The Wind] or [[Ignite Arrows]. and some other Damage skill for the bow.

The build that i used for them:
[Burning Arrow][Keen Arrow][Crossfire][Poison Tip Signet][Barbed Arrows][Frenzy][Storm Chaser]

[[Frenzy] just for a IAS and they don;t attack you so no double dmg
[[Storm Chaser] for a IMS just to run faster to them.

i used Elite and Normal Ranger tomes for the skills ^^:P

then make a run of lvl 30 Snow Wurms outside Boreals Station for 268XP each with out scroll with scroll more. the Snow Wurms don't attack only if you are in melee distance otherwise not, just killed them each run are 10 Snow Wurms that you can very easliy Solo on HM.

Red Dot's is the way of the run
Red with green dot's the run where the 10 Snowwurms are
Yellow bar Never passed that line there are lvl 30 attack foes

further more you get nice Pocket money that you can use for Scroll for more XP.

I would say the best way for Survivor is to get someone to power level you. Any other way and there's a risk of mistake and dying. But if you don't want to, you could use this build to farm raptors in Hard Mode for exp points.

[build prof=Ranger/Elementalist EarthMagic=12 Expertise=3+1+1 WaterMagic=12][Armor of Mist][Glyph of Sacrifice][Mist Form][Magnetic Aura][Whirling Defense][Air of Superiority][Sliver Armor][optional][/build]
- Rank 5 Asura is recommended to be able to keep up [[Air of Superiority] almost indefinitely.
- [[Ebon Battle Standard of Honor] is recommended in the Optional slot.
- If you don't have EBSoH, then the order of recommendation for the optional skill is [[Intensity]>[[Glyph of Elemental Power]>[[Elemental Lord]
- [[Grasping Earth] can be used in the Optional slot, although with a staff it is not needed.

[[Keen Arrow] is better left for [[Expert's Dexterity] Rangers or Bow Assassins. [[Crossfire] is bad unless you combine with a pet to always have an ally near your target or you like being near foes. You don't need [[Poison Tip Signet] and [[Barbed Arrows] since you have enough degen from [[Burning Arrow]. Rangers shouldn't need to use [[Frenzy] when there's [[Flail]. [[Dodge]/[[Zojun's Haste] should be used instead to run around, not [[Storm Chaser], but I would recommend a Res here instead. Also, your build lacks interrupts so you can drop the extra degen that you don't need for interrupts like [[Savage Shot] and [[Distracting Shot]. [[Hunter's Shot] is put in as a stronger alternative to your bow attacks.

i know, anyway the snow wurms are doing nothing with skills orso, no interrupts needed, degen is handy here so the wurms also die when they are underground^^ yep i know [[Flail] and [[Zojun's haste] are better, but for the purpose my build working good enough :P
